When Might You Want To Remove A Living, Healthy Tree?

Posted on

Usually, when someone has a tree removed, they do so because the tree is either dead or diseased. Removing such a tree from the property is a good idea since otherwise, the tree might fall or lose branches, leading to property damage. There are some other situations where you may actually need to have a tree removed outside of these reasons. Here are some instances in which you may want to have a living, healthy tree removed.

The tree is growing into or over a structure

Having a tree overhang your roof is not a good idea, no matter how healthy the tree is. A storm or high winds could cause a branch to crack off of a tree and fall on the roof. The shade from the tree is not healthy for the roof, either, since it can cause the roof to remain wet after rain, leading to mold growth and other damage. It's a good idea to have trees that overhang roofs removed. You may also want to have a tree removed if it interferes with your fence, the power lines, or a shed or garage. Similarly, a tree that is too close to your home's foundation may cause damage to that foundation over time, which makes removing that tree a smart choice.

You're allergic to the tree

If you or someone in your family are allergic to the pollen released by a certain tree, then you may want to have the tree removed even if it is healthy. Cottonwood trees are a common culprit. Many people are highly allergic to their pollen and are fraught with allergy symptoms until they remove the tree from their land. Removing the tree often reduces their reliance on allergy medications, too. Other trees that may cause allergies include birch, elm, cedar, and poplar.

The tree blocks your view

If there is a tree that blocks your view of something beautiful, such as a nice meadow across the street or a beautiful pond in your yard, then you may want to have the tree removed. If you're worried about the ecological consequences of having a tree removed, you can always plant a new one in a better place.

If you have a tree that falls into any of the categories above, then you might want to consider having it removed. Talk to a tree care company in your area to learn more about their tree removal services.
